Hello! My name is Smudge and I’m a very lovable – “want to be with people” kind of cat. I’m 9 ½ years old. I came to the shelter a couple of years ago with my twin brother. My brother has long been adopted and still in his forever home; me however was not so lucky, I did get adopted, twice actually and both times returned through no fault of my own I just think they were having hard times and a cat just wasn’t fitting into the picture. I’m glad I get to always come back to this shelter; I remember the people that work here and I get good care and treated nice. But, it sure isn’t like having a home of my own, a lap to call my own, and a window sill to call my own, catnip mice ALL MINE! I am pretty healthy, neutered, have all my shots and a microchip but I do have a problem with my ears that need to be watched and kept clean, not too big of a job for having such a nice cat like me. I am all white, every speck of me is white and I keep myself snow white, I do not like to be dirty! I sure home my time for that great forever home is in my near future; my very near future as more and more new cats keep coming into our big room. Not that I mind other cats but I sure appreciate a more quite lifestyle. If you would like to come meet me I will be patiently waiting – I sure hope I have visitors even if I turn out not to be the one for you, I love the attention. I’m at the Elk County Animal Shelter or you can call for more information on me. Love, Smudge

Pet Angel Program
Is your house already full of pets, or maybe you aren't home enough to care for a pet? We have a way for you to help a shelter dog or cat find that forever home.

Elk Country Animal Shelter offers the "Pet Angel Program." It allows one person, a group of friends, or a service club, to sponsor a shelter dog or cat.

For $200 you can sponsor a dog or $150 sponsors a cat. This covers the adoption fee and provides toys, beds, a nice size bag of food, treats and a new collar and leash. And as always, the pet will be spayed or neutered, have all vaccinations and a microchip. There is a nice placard that has your name on it, that will be placed over the kennel or cat cage. You will receive a thank you, but most of all you will have helped a dog or cat who really needed a helping hand.

Think about it, won't you?

Kuranda beds are sturdy and long lasting, so you will be providing a lasting gift for a dog today and another tomorrow.

They can make a big difference for even one dog who, for the most part spends 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on a concrete floor.

Donations are offered at a special discounted price and shipped directly to the Elk Country Animal Shelter.

Donate a bed in your name, or send one as a gift in the name of a friend or family member.  We will mail a personalized Gift Card acknowlegement directly to them from you.
