OF THE WEEK
The shelter cupboards are getting empty – we really need Pedigree dry dog food, dry cat food, bleach and paper toweling – if you can help with some of these items we would be very grateful!
|Hi, my name is Rusty. As you can probably guess, I got my name because of my beautiful orange color. I am the perfect age, three years young, to fit into almost any home. I’m still young enough to want to play yet I’m not a kitten who will get into all of your favorite things (plants, basket of yarn, curtains….). Even though I’m only three years-old, I have been through a lot in the past couple of years. A couple of years ago, someone found me wondering all alone and they brought me to the Elk Country Animal Shelter. The folks at the shelter took great care of me and had me neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated. I was at the shelter for only a couple of months when I found a new home.
I was happy in my new home. I had my own places to sleep and play and take naps. I was glad that the folks at the animal shelter found me a nice, new home to spend the rest of my days. Sadly, after about two years, I found out I was going to have to return to the animal shelter. It was no fault of my own; my humans were just going through something I didn’t understand and they could no longer keep me. I am now living back at the animal shelter and although they take really good care of me here, I really want to find a super-fantastic, forever home.
I am really a good boy and I don’t make much of a fuss about anything. I like people of all ages and I get along with other cats. I am pretty much your typical “lap” cat that prefers to just hang out around my humans. I’m a quiet, indoor cat and I use my litter box like I’m supposed to do. I’m sharing my temporary home here at the animal shelter with many other cats. I don’t mind it really, but I would really love for someone to make me a special part of their family.
Here is the best part of all….my adoption has already been paid for! I am among one of many cats at the shelter right now that has been sponsored by one very caring and wonderful person! The shelter has a program called the Pet Angel Program where someone can sponsor a pet like me. It helps take care of me while I’m at the shelter and also helps me find a loving, forever home by sponsoring my adoption fee. Isn’t that wonderful?! Please, come visit me and all of the sponsored cats at the Elk Country Animal Shelter. I’m sure you will find that perfect match….and I hope I’m him
PET ANGEL PROGRAM
Is your house already full of pets, or maybe you aren't home enough to care for a pet? We have a way for you to help a shelter dog or cat find that forever home.
Elk Country Animal Shelter offers the "Pet Angel Program." It allows one person, a group of friends, or a service club, to sponsor a shelter dog or cat.
For $200 you can sponsor a dog or $150 sponsors a cat. This covers the adoption fee and provides toys, beds, a nice size bag of food, treats and a new collar and leash. And as always, the pet will be spayed or neutered, have all vaccinations and a microchip. There is a nice placard that has your name on it, that will be placed over the kennel or cat cage. You will receive a thank you, but most of all you will have helped a dog or cat who really needed a helping hand.
