PET OF THE WEEK SEPTEMBER 14, 2009

Hi Everyone! My name is Sweetie and I’m a Beagle looking for that special home. My story starts not so good; I was found out in the middle of nowhere by a very nice couple, they found me lost, loaded with fleas and ticks, skinny and very hungry. They took me into the vets and got me all taken care of, fed me well and gave me everything I needed except they couldn’t give me a forever home. They already had two dogs and couldn’t take on a third but they said I was a very special dog and as sweet as they come, and that is how I got my name and that is why I’m here - waiting for that special family to come along and fall in love with me.
I’m just over a year old and what a fun loving girl I am, I love people and other dogs….I’m the dog that gets to play with most anyone here, I’m never mean spirited just fun and playful. Sometimes it’s very hard for us Beagles to get adopted because somehow people don’t think we fit in as family dogs and are used for hunting only - well that just isn’t the case, us Beagles can make the most wonderful family pets. A perfect size for just about anyone and we are usually always good natured and happy and I’m no exception to that, and to just for the record I don’t care much for hunting and remember Snoopy - he was a Beagle and he didn’t hunt except for maybe his food bowl. My favorite thing is to play with people or other dogs. I’m very smart too, you can teach me just about anything – I am willing to learn if someone takes the time to teach me. I am very housebroken - I wouldn’t dream of making a mess in my kennel – never, ever and I certainly wouldn’t want to mess in my new home.
If you are looking for a new friend that will always be loyal maybe I can be that friend for you. There are many dogs and cats here at the shelter that need homes, if I’m not the right fit for you maybe another would be so please come visit us, it’s nice here but we sure don’t want to live here forever. If you want more information just give the shelter a call at 989-785-3738 they will be very happy to tell you all about me!
