PET OF THE WEEK AUGUST 24, 2009

My name is Sugar; I think many already know who I am and for those that don’t I was also known as the ghost dog of Hillman, the one that lived on my own for almost a year if that helps. I have been living at the shelter for a while now and have done very well – I finally feel safe, learned to trust people, eating good food and have learned to play with people and some of the other dogs. They think I’m a white German Shepherd with maybe a bit of Great Pyrenees, or maybe the other way around but all I know I’m a big girl, all white except for my ears which are tannish. I’m still a bit shy when there are lots of strangers around because I just don’t know what they are up to but quickly get over that if I’m around the people I know and have learned to trust completely. I’m always ready to go outside to play but I’m not just fun and games - I’m very smart and ready and willing to learn many new things. They say I live up to my name because I’m just as sweet as Sugar! I’m very gentle - would never think of jumping up on you and I now love to be petted and that says a lot for a dog that used to just cringe when anyone even thought of touching me. I’m pretty happy here but they say it’s time for me to move forward and find my forever home. They keep telling me there are even better things that can happen for me – a real home where I would live inside; something I have never known, actually living inside with the people that love me – can that really be true? I know many - many people had worried about me, cared about my well being, and loved me - knowing I was dog worth saving. To all those that never gave up on me I haven’t let you down I am a dog that was worth saving.
