Hello, my name is Rex! I was brought to the Sheriff’s Department because I was out running around on my own; I didn’t have any tag, just a choke chain which they took off of me right away and fitted me with a nice buckle collar. They said it was dangerous for a dog to wear a choke chain unless he was in a training session. Heck , I didn’t know that. They said mine was way too tight and had a hard time getting it off of me, but I was very patient while they struggled to inch it over one ear at a time. I am very friendly and happy, I love everyone, I know some commands, and I am already neutered.
I think I’m the kennel favorite! Our caretaker say’s he loves us all the same, but I’m the one he pets the most and talks to the most, and I’m the only one that got a smile face drawn on the kennel card with the words, “Good Dog." I don’t think he will admit it out loud that I’m his favorite because it will make the other dogs feel bad, and I wouldn’t want my friends to feel bad. Speaking of friends, I know one of my friends is feeling very GOOD right now; my friend Goody was adopted the other day. He got to go home with a very nice lady and her husband; the lady talked so nice to Goody and said he won’t have to live outside anymore. We are all very happy for Goody. Now I hope it’s my turn to get picked; come visit me. I’m not hard to spot; I’m in the first kennel, the good dog with the wagging tail. A WORD FROM PAULINE: Most of us enjoy watching fireworks, but our pets don’t! Please keep a close eye on your dogs over this holiday; fireworks are scary to many dogs, and the loud noise is harmful to their ears so leave them home in a place where they will be safe and secure. Make sure your dog always has some kind of identification on his collar so he has the best chance of being returned home if lost even if this means writing your phone number on his collar with a permanent marker; it won’t last forever but long enough to get a tag made.
