Pet of the Week-- Pepper June 18, 2006

 

My name is Pepper, and I would like to tell you my story. Right now, I am living at the sheriff’s department. It’s not a bad place to be as I do get lots of food, plenty of fresh water, and our trustee tries very hard to pay lots of attention to us, but with so many dogs in the kennel, his time gets spread pretty thin, but we try to be patient and wait our turn.

When I first came here, I was very thin, and my belly was pretty saggy from a litter of puppies I had recently. I don’t know where my babies are or what happened to them. I just hope they are  safe and being cared for. 

At night, I dream about having a home of my own, a nice soft bed to sleep in, a bath and a good brushing, (Oh how I dream of how good that would feel), and last but certainly not least, an owner that would love me as much as I love him or her. They say I am a Plotthound mix; maybe I am a mix and then again maybe not. I am still a young dog; they are guessing about 3 years old, I am pretty calm and respectful and would make you very proud if you adopted me.

Oh, I have to tell you what happened here over the weekend; there was a big party across the street, and they collected lots of stuff for us dogs. People came in trip after trip, carrying bag after bag of dog food, toys for us to play with ( I was lucky to be the first one to get a new toy. Pauline told me it was because I am special.) and lots of stuff to clean our kennels, dishes and shampoo to clean us. (Maybe part of my dream will be coming true very soon.) We are very happy dogs today, and we are thankful for all the gifts we have gotten over the weekend. Now if I can just finish the rest of my dream and my story by getting adopted!
