PET OF THE WEEK APRIL 6, 2009

PORSCHA
 porscha and DJ

Hello to everyone! My name is Porcha and yes I’ve been in the paper before so you might remember me. I have so much to tell you I just don’t know where to start. About a week ago we all took a walk, didn’t know where we were going but we were happy to just be going. Our walk was a short one over to the new Elk Country Animal Shelter and boy were we happy to see all the people, our clean beds, fresh water and the raw bones that were waiting for each and every one of us. We settled in pretty nice and we all decided this is a pretty nice place to stay--just until we get adopted. Besides having a warm room and good food we have lots of fun all day long and stay very busy. It’s pretty active around here; lots of different people come to take us all out for walks and play in our new large play yard; I can tell they are having as much fun as we are because they always have big smiles on their faces – so I’m glad we are making them happy. Some of us get to play with each other out in the play yard, that is if we get along with our playmate, me, well I just happen to get along with everyone so they have nicknamed me the playmate of the month. The picture is of me and DJ, he is my very best play buddy, he loves to let me chase him, we roll and tumble and then chase each other more. Our days here have been very full, lots of people come to visit and several of my friends have been adopted and went to their new home. A family with kids even came to visit DJ, he was so good and in seventh heaven being with the kids, they said it’s a big decision and would think about it, DJ is such a nice dog so I hope they come back for him. The shelter is offering a basic obedience training course and even though I don’t have an owner yet, I do have a sponsor that will take me through the course to help me have a better chance at being adopted and to be a better companion when I do. The course is open to anyone that wants to learn how to train their dog, the 5-week training course will be held at the shelter starting on Tuesday April 14th at 5:30 pm. If you are interested, you can sign up at the shelter or call for more information. 989-785-3738.
