PET OF THE WEEK

April 24, 2006

Hi everyone, just in case you haven't noticed by my picture, I am in the doggie lockup at the Montmorency County Sheriff's Department. Since I have been here, they have been calling me Herbert , the Handsome Hound; well, I can't blame them since I can't tell them what my real name is so I will just have to live with that until someone adopts me and hopefully changes this name they have given me.

I can tell you a little bit about myself: I am a Beagle (although they do have the handsome part right), I am an older fellow but not as old as my Beagle friend Dickens. I feel pretty good and have lots of energy and spunk, not the type that acts all worn out and just lies around all day sleeping. Heck I enjoy life and don't want to waste it by sleeping it away. I have a good attitude, I like people, and I am a good watchdog, too. I have to tell you that the past week I thought I was at Beagle Boarding because there were so many Beagles here in the kennel. Many have gone back home, but I did overhear someone say they didn't think to look for their dog here. Well, this is one of the very first places you should look. If we get picked up, this is where they take us, so come look for us. Please don't call because many dogs look alike, and you can make it real easy by having a ID tag hanging on our collars. Speaking of collars, I saw a couple of dogs come in wearing choke chains. A choke chain is not a collar that should be left on us; they are very dangerous and should only be used while training.

You can visit Herbert at the Sheriff's Dept. or call Pauline for more information 989-785-3463. Please remember to spay and neuter your pets; the Elk Country Animal Shelter can help. Call Linda if your dog is over 45 pounds at 785-3325. If you have a cat and or cats that need altering, check out our flyer on the upcoming cat clinic; you can get your cat spayed or neutered along with low cost vaccinations for both dogs and cats. Don't miss out on this.
