harvetFEBRUARY 27, 2007--HARVEY

My name is Harvey! They say I am a lab-smaller dog mix; they can’t seem to figure out what the “smaller dog part is,” and I won’t tell them. They also think I am Peanut’s brother, but I am telling you that in no way am I his brother, I am older and lots smarter than that young rascal, Peanut. I am about 3-4 years old; it’s sometimes hard to keep track of the years. I get pretty excited when we get visitors but settle down quite nicely and quickly. I know some basic commands and haven’t met a person (big or little) that I didn’t like. I’m not real big like a Labrador, maybe half the size, just the perfect size for most anyone. I am a bit on the thin side and need to gain some weight; I didn’t have a very good diet before I came here. I am slowly putting on some weight but still have some to go. If my body didn’t have to spend so much energy trying to keep me warm, I probably would be fat by now. I promise I will try my very best to be the best friend you ever had--just take me home and give me a chance!

If you are looking to adopt a dog, would you please consider me, and if it’s not me, please make your choice a shelter dog. It doesn’t matter what shelter you go to, we all need homes!

To reduce the number of dogs that need homes please get your dog fixed; the Elk Country Animal Shelter has a program to help you, call Pauline at 989-785-3463.They are also having two cat clinics and from a dog's point of view, we sure don’t need anymore cats! Call Maggie 989-786-5139 for information on getting your cats fixed, along with dog and cat shots and micro-chipping. Oh, and don’t forget, this is the last day to get your dog license; don’t let your dog end up like me!

Sincerely, Harvey
