Remember me? I’m the same DJ black lab mix from months ago and yes I’m still here. I have been patient and don’t complain, the guys that take care of me always say “DJ is such a good dog”. So why have so many new dogs come and go before me? They say maybe it’s because of my color; black dogs just look like shadows in the kennels or just plain don’t stand out. Maybe that’s so, but if someone just pawsed at my kennel to really get a good look at me they would see how handsome I am and see the spirit is still in my eyes. I would be the best family pet ever if just given the chance, I’m smart if only someone would teach me what I need to know, I’m not a big barker but you can be certain I would let you know if someone was at our door. Yes I have some pent up energy being here at the kennel, all of us dogs do, we just don’t get enough exercise, but that big spurt of energy quickly subsides and we can all settle down to be good dogs. It’s getting colder now so I spend more time in my dog house filled with straw, daydreaming of being curled up on a nice soft dog bed, or maybe I won’t be curled up, maybe I will be stretched right out because you have the wood stove going and I’m warm as toast, “DJ come” let’s go for a walk then we will have dinner, I am so excited to see the leash come out, my very special time to show off my new friend to the neighborhood, look at me everyone, I finally got adopted! And then I hear all the other dogs barking and wake’s me up, yep, still here at the kennel in my dog house filled with straw.

Please keep your pet safe during the Halloween holiday; this can be a scary time for them, people coming to the door yelling out and looking very strange in their costume, it’s best to keep your pets safe in another room during trick-or-treat times and remember candy isn’t good for your pet and sometimes can make them very ill.
